The British Book Awards 2020 Winners
It is with enormous pleasure that we present the winners of the British Book Awards – or Nibbies – led by Candice Carty-Williams’s dazzling novel Queenie which scooped both the coveted Book of the Year award as well as Debut Book of the Year.
Queenie faced stiff competition for the accolade, from both the Booker-winning Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo – who also double-triumphed as the winner of the Fiction Book of the Year and the Author of the Year – and Lisa Taddeo’s international bestseller Three Women, which scooped the Non-Fiction Narrative Book of the Year Award.
The leading awards for the book industry and unique in rewarding works that are not only brilliantly written but expertly published, the British Book Awards celebrate the breadth of publishing across eight shortlists. The 2020 winners’ gallery boasts an exceptionally strong female representation, featuring eight very special books that are destined to become modern classics, from the sensational former Waterstones Thriller of the Month My Sister the Serial Killer triumphing in the crime and thrillers category to Holly Jackson’s debut featuring a likeable teenage sleuth scooping the Children's Fiction Book of the Year.
