The Tale of Peter Rabbit: Gift Edition (Hardback)
Beatrix Potter (author)Published: 02/11/2017
Shhh, come quietly into Mr McGregor’s garden and see what you will find there.
Peter Rabbit is a very mischievous rabbit indeed and when his mother goes out for the day, he slips under the gate and straight into Mr McGregor’s vegetable patch. Peter might be a cunning little rabbit but he finds that there is more waiting for him in the garden than he bargained for.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit is the original classic by Beatrix Potter, first published by Frederick Warne in 1902 and endures as Beatrix Potter's most popular and well-loved tale.
Beatrix Potter's work reflects her interest in animals, natural history and the environment. She liked to imagine her characters in her favourite, natural places, so she created a special world for Peter Rabbit. Before the full-colour edition of The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published by Frederick Warne & Co., Potter arranged a private printing of the book with Strangeways & Sons in 1901. It was illustrated with black-and-white line drawings, and it is these illustrations which have been adapted for this special gift edition of the tale.
Potter's drawings have been combined with a variety of patterns that take inspiration from the natural world in which the tale is set. The botanical patterns reflect Potter's illustrations, and the soft, natural palette and block-printing effect refers back to the Golden Age of children's illustrated books.A perfect gift for fans of Beatrix Potter.
One of the world’s greatest children’s writers and illustrators, Beatrix Potter created some of the most recognisable characters in English literature, including Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Benjamin Bunny.
