Bevan Ridehalgh has been a Blackpool supporter since the early 1950s. His book contains many items about Blackpool Football Club's early years; years that saw them start life playing close to monkeys and end up playing in front of cows. From the beginning, the team went outside the town's boundaries and the book does, too. You can read about them playing a cup-tie at Whitewell Bottom and you can read what the reporters thought of Deepdale. Amongst other facts recalled is one telling of how - in a strange way - they beat a leading London team 19-0. Most of the book is a happy read but there are some sad pieces, too, none more so than the report of the tragic death of a promising player at the early age of 22
