The Sociopolitical Dimension of Design is a collection of interviews conducted with the goal of creating a productive, critical analysis of design as a major social factor in the construction of the present and future. In conversations with experts in various fields of design, topics ranging from access to the field and the role of the designer as intermediary between the client and user - in the sense of design advocacy - to the subversive potential of design are explored. It is not about reducing design to its aesthetic dimensions, but rather about working out its social and political impact. These discussions are part of a comprehensive study on the field of design that the editor is carrying out in collaboration with the Sociological Seminar at the University of St. Gallen and the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture at the ETH in Zurich. The volume contains interviews with figures such as Ruedi Baur, Elisabeth Blum, Teddy Cruz, Christopher Dell, Jesko Fezer, Uwe Fischer, Konstantin Grcic, Hubert Klumpner, Ross Lovegrove, Sophia Prinz, Johanna Schaffer, Regula Stampfli, Philippe Rekacewicz Miguel Robles-Duran, Philip Ursprung, Giulio Vinaccia, Beatrice von Bismarck, Friedrich von Borries, and Ulf Wuggenig.
