The mythological in the operas of Benjamin Britten was analysed in six of his operas: Paul Bunyan (1941), Peter Grimes (1945), Billy Budd (1951), Gloriana (1952), The Turn of the Screw (1954) and Owen Wingrave (1971) In addition to the Introduction - Soundless light and Conclusion Pizzicato sparkles without a bow, the book contains five chapters: Identification, Antique chorus in Britten's creative procedure, Links, Revelation of the concealed meaning and Benjamin Britten's dominoes where the presence of the mythological is searched for and revealed in the selected operas of this great twentieth century composer.
