It is a story about four children whose parents die during the London Blitz and are evacuated to Bournemouth to live with their Uncle Percy. Their Uncle is a headmaster who is not used to having children at home. He loved his brother dearly and he is struggling to come to terms with his death. On the first evening in Bournemouth a stray German Aircraft drops a single bomb which destroys the headmasters home. Percy is thrown clear but fears the children are dead. Amazingly the four children are not dead but asleep! They have been transported by strange powers into a mysterious world of magic. An extraordinary world inhabited by extraordinary creatures.
