"Flying Scotsman" is the considered the most famous railway locomotive in the world. It has many "firsts" and records to its credit and has travelled around the world, visiting North America and Australia However, it was not originally unique, being one of 80 almost identical locomotives. This is the story of how one of them has become well known, whilst the others are all but forgotten. The book is published to coincide with the locomotive's return to main line running, and the 70th anniversary of it's historic first non-stop run from London to Edinburgh on 1st May 1928.
