This excellent near-contemporary account, drawn from the 1869 "Royal United Service Institute Journal", was penned by the British military attache to the Second Prussian Army, which fought in Bohemia during the 1866 campaign. The account is slightly more wide ranging than the title suggests, as it focuses on the campaign in general, as well as the battle itself. The Battle of Koniggratz continues to be neglected in available literature, and it is hoped the reprinting of this key article goes some way towards remedying this shortfall.
