The purpose of this book is to present current information about best practices for the practicing school library media specialist in the role of teacher. This book will also be useful for library educators and pre-service school library media specialists, especially for the increasing number of students who are coming into the profession with no prior educational preparation or experience in teaching and an appeal for any educator interested in inquiry learning. While the proposed book will be of practical use, it will also incorporate theory and discuss bridging the gap between theory and practice. The book is not conceived as a textbook for MLIS candidates, but would inform the teaching of graduate courses in learning theory, inquiry learning and curriculum and instruction by discussing the theory and research of information literacy and inquiry, the new AASL standards, project- and resource-based learning, and the research process. Grades K-12.
