Drawing on studies of partnerships between schools and training institutions in England, Scotland, and Holland, this study rasies questions about the quality of teaching and of student's experiences in school as they undergo the transforamtion from student to teacher. It raises issues of comaptibility: in what ways are steps takento ensure comaparability of learning and teaching within and accorss institutions? How has teacher's work altered as it encompasses the teaching of adults as well as children?
