The series, Research on Teaching and Learning, provides an intellectual home for publishing high quality scholarship focused upon teaching and learning, broadly defined, in American education. Published volumes will include in depth treatments based upon empirical studies, policy analyses, literature reviews, and/or theoretical accounts. Examples of possible topics include but are not limited to classroom coping; high stakes testing; constructive learning; youth, teaching, and the media; expectations for schooling; motivated learning; societal expectations of schools; teachers' work; school as community; teaching project-based science; teaching, testing, and accountability; and impediments to effective teaching.
