The role of the Parole Board for England and Wales is to make risk assessments to inform decisions on the release and recall of prisoners with the ultimate aim of protecting the public and successfully reintegrating prisoners into the community. This annual report and accounts details the Board's activities and performance against key targets for the year 2004-05, during which time there were 7,297 parole applications received, an increase of almost 21 per cent on the previous year.
