Neolithic Houses in North-West Europe and Beyond - Oxbow Monographs in Archaeology No. 57 (Paperback)

This text discusses one of the most hotly debated issues in European prehistory - the structure and meaning of Neolithic houses. The majority of the papers were presented at a conference of the Neolithic Studies Group in 1992. These have been revised and four further papers increase the geographical coverage to include Central Europe. Two concluding papers of particular theoretical interest use comparative data from modern anthropological studies in Bali and the Amazon to shed light on the complex social significance of these strutures.
