Inspired by the romance and charm of classic gardens in full bloom, Elizabeth Bradley's exquisite needlework designs bring the joys of nature into the home. Drawing upon perennial favourites and heirloom flowers, Needlework Antique Flowers follows on the success of Decorative Victorian Needlework, offering the same stunning colour photographs, detailed colour charts and comprehensive instructions.
Needlework Antique Flowers includes patterns for time-honoured favourites such as roses, pansies, lilies, peonies and cheerful sunflowers, all arranged in graceful bouquets. Elizabeth also bring the seasons to life with such samplers as the Primavera, with its scattered arrangement of fresh spring flowers; the Rose Baby, a typically Victorian design featuring a cherubic baby emerging from the heart of a summer rose; and the Winter Sampler, displaying a red Georgian house elegantly encircled by seasonal birds, berries and foliage.
Each beautiful design is meticulously charted, and detailed yarn and canvas quantities are provided, so that readers can experience the pleasure of creating tapestries, cushions, bags and wall hangings for their homes.
The timeless delights of both gardening and needlepoint embroidery - the rich variety of shapes and patterns, the subtle harmony of colours, the personal creativity - are joined in this romantic collection of designs. For novices and experienced needlepointers alike, this book offers a stylish excursion into the beauty of bygone gardens.
