This is a book for mothers and fathers and everyone who looks after babies and small children - and at the same time is learning Welsh and wants to speak Welsh with the children. Each chapter centres on a given event in a young child's life: being fed, getting dressed, bath-time or going for a walk. There are three main divisions: babies up to nine months; small children under eighteen months; and those over eighteen months. There are English translations that appear side by side with the Welsh phrases. The homely language used is based on the language of Welsh-speaking mothers as it was recorded in real-life situations the length and breadth of Wales. The book offers a choice of northern and southern variants, but generally opts for forms which correspond to those which most learners will have met in the classroom. This is not a book to be read through at one sitting but rather to be kept handy and opened in given situations as parents cope simultaneously with looking after small children and learning Welsh! The series of cartoons by Jac Jones has been specially commissioned and will surely bring a smile to everyone's face, whether they are bringing up small children or recollecting the experience in tranquillity.
