When first published privately in Italy, in 1928, Lady Chatterly's Lover was too risque for readers and was considered unprintable. It wasn't until three decades later, in 1960, that the novel could be printed openly in the United Kingdom. Much debate has gone into what constitutes erotic literature; but whether the novel was about a scandalous affair or a quest for purity, or about the class system and social conflict, one needs to read it for oneself to find the message that lies within. Lady Chatterly's Lover will surely pique the interest and curiosity of the most discerning of readers. Lexile score: 750L About the Word Cloud Classics series: Classic works of literature with a clean, modern aesthetic! “Interesting read...”

The novel lives up to the name it has gained for itself, a very engaging read that I would recommend for generations to come for an insight into class, gender and lust I guess, ha.

“Put it on your must read list.”

I brought this book for my son and ended up reading it myself. It reads like a people's history with an insight into class boundaries and social behaviour. You can see why it made a stir at the time. A really...
