Signed Edition

The sequel to the epically funny adventure, Kid Normal, shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2018, starring Murph Cooper and the Super Zeroes from authors Greg James and Chris Smith.

Running a team of crime-fighting superheroes is a complicated business - especially when your mum's not allowed to know that you're doing it. But Murph Cooper is making it work: he's a schoolkid by day and a member of the top-secret Heroes' Alliance by night.

Not that anyone at The School seems to care. Most of Murph's teachers and classmates still believe that unless you have a proper superpower you can't be a real hero. But his achievements have caught the attention of at least one person ...

Far away in a maximum security prison, the world's most notorious supervillain, Magpie, has just broken a 30-year silence.

Magpie's special power? Draining heroes of their Capabilities and taking them for his own. And his first words? `Bring Kid Normal to me ...'

British BBC Radio 1 DJ’s Greg James and Chris Smith came up with the idea of writing a book together after they started inventing characters as part of their weekly podcast. Having had great fun coming up with fantastic characters such as the Butter Monster (and his seasonal partner in crime the Brandy Butter Monster) they decided to turn their ideas into a book and together wrote Kid Normal

MEDIA REVIEWS

Praise for Kid Normal:

So funny it's almost criminal' - The Independent

'Amusingly surreal super-powers and a trust yourself message combine to strong effect with Erica Salcedo's entertaining, huge-eyed images' - Guardian

'Chock full of slapstick humour, outrageous characters and pop culture references. It mocks school pecking orders and will make all kids who have fallen foul of them feel much better about it. And somehow, it ties all the mania together in a credible and thrilling story in which young anti-superheroes vanquish an evil villain, despite their lack of superpowers.' - The Bookbag, Jill Murphy

'A superlative adventure story that will resonate with children who like to read whacky, wild things.' - Books Monthly

'This spoof superhero epic certainly delivers: deliciously dastardly villains, capes, tights and mild-mannered heroes. Yet it also explores familiar school anxieties that everyone else is smarter, stronger, better. Here, even Kid Normal has superpowers!' - BookTrust

'A very promising start to a laugh-out-loud funny adventure series' - Parents in Touch

'Incredibly funny, witty and stuffed full of heart' - Book Lover Jo

'Packed with very amusing asides, it's a fun and fast-paced read' - Western Mail
