There has been growing concern about the increase in homelessness, especially among young single people. This research, which was carried out by the Centre for Housing Research at Glasgow University, examines the background to this situation and looks at the role and responses of social work agencies. The first part of the report explores the origin of the problem, drawing on the direct experrience of homeless young people. Part two describes the response to this, through a review of the law relating to homeless young people, the responses of the various local authority and voluntary agencies involved and the experiences and views of the staff. Finally, the report sets out conclusions and recommendations.
