It's Summer, 1545. England is at war. Henry VIII's invasion of France has gone badly wrong, and a massive French fleet is preparing to sail across the Channel. Events will converge on board one of the King's great warships, primed for battle in Portsmouth harbour...

“A decent historical yarn...”

Although I didn't find this quite as gripping as the other Shardlake books I have read, 'Heartstone' is still a thrilling read and plunges you into the brutal world of Tudor England.

“Really good read”

Clever and complex plot. First one of the series I have read - and I will now enjoy going back to the first book of the series.
