A gorjer - so not an ethnic member of the Traveller community - he is a respected authority on British Travellers, especially Romanies and the Nawken (Scottish). He has accumulated several specialist collections covering various fields and these are now housed at Leeds University (Brotherton), Liverpool University (RAS Macfie), MERL (10,000 items alone), the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, the Roma Support Group, the Federation of Gypsy Liaison Groups and Scottish museums.
