This book presents a comprehensive analysis of the governance challenge at the national, regional and global level. It highlights, among other things, the need for effective governance systems at the national level as a critical requirement for promoting an optimum level of growth and development, guaranteeing human rights and ensuring political and social stability. Similarly, in the context of the deepening of the regional integration process envisaged in the establishment of the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) it advances a number of innovative proposals for rationalising governance structures at the regional level. Moreover, since the process of globalisation and the more recent changes in the geopolitical configuration of the international system have major implications for the exercise of power in that system, the establishment of suitable governance structures at the global level is also addressed in the volume. The book will therefore be of direct interest to policy makers, members of the academic community as well as the general public. The publication is also extremely timely since it will coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of the Caribbean Community.
