Combining historical facts and events from WWI and WWII with personal memories, photographs and war-plane illustrations from the author's father (George Munday Snr), Flights of Fantasy is written in a dramatised story format in the point of view of George Snr as he tells his tale of living through the war era. It follows his life in Ramsgate (Kent) and then Liverpool during WWI as he and his family flee the bombings, but little did they know of what was to come in Liverpool. George tries to fulfil his dream of joining the RAF, but fate had other plans. Instead, he joins the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) in WWII to help in the war effort as his world burns around him from ground level.
