David Ogilby was educated at Belfast High School, Stranmillis College Belfast, Brunel University and California State University. He completed a course in techniques and criticism of poetry at the University of Vermont. He taught in Belfast and in England. While in Canada he taught in Montreal for two years. He lived in the USA for ten years and taught in New York. Some of his short stories were published in Real Confessions (USA) and Ireland's Own magazines.He gave poetry readings on WNYC and on WRVR radio stations in New York where he was bracketed with Ezra Pound the famous poet. He has written six plays and done research into past lives reincarnation and the supernatural. He completed a course at the College of Craft Education where he studied practical craftwork, Social and Industrial History, Craft Education and Psychology. He obtained the Diploma of Membership of the college (M.C.C. ED). He also was awarded the qualification of Fellow of the College of Preceptors (F.C.P) for a thesis entitled "Current Trends in the Education of the Gifted Student in the USA."
