As they plan in the spaces between practice, method and theory, the essays in this volume confront the threat inherent in feminist desciplinarization by speaking in contrary ways, from other places, and from other imaginary fields. An international focus, beyond the demarcations between Anglo-American and French feminism, is created as many essays are written by scholars whose "places" are elsewhere. Contributions by those who are primarily "creative writers" help to problematize generic boundaries. A central theme is how subject positions are written and unwritten.
