The pressure of environmental regulations, safety aspects, reliability, and the desire to reduce running costs all contribute to the need for increasingly sophisticated vehicle electronics. Annually, the value of electronics in new cars is increasing by about 20 per cent. This conference dealt with real-life applications in vehicle electronics, across the whole spectrum of the industry. It examined the ways in which vehicle manufacturers and suppliers are introducing new features, and how they are meeting legislation, reducing costs and increasing reliability. The papers in this volume provide a thorough understanding of vehicle electronic systems. They discuss power management, displays, electric vehicles and emerging systems. The papers should be useful to all those working in advanced systems development, vehicle and component design and manufacture, after-market component supply, and industrial and academic research.
