This book treats the diverse genus of "Euonymus" and includes chapters on morphology, taxonomy, ecology, propagation, diseases and pests, its history as cultured plant, cultivars, and important collections of "Euonymus". "Euonymus", often called spindle or spindle tree, is a genus of flowering plants in the staff vine family, Celastraceae, that occurs in many parts of the world. Of the four European species, "Euonymus europaeus", or the common spindle, is the only one to occur in the Netherlands. Spindle trees can be recognised by their striking pink fruits that split open to reveal fleshy, orange seeds. Some species and cultivars have been a part of cities and the countryside for centuries and are a treasure for each garden.
