For the third year in succession Claeys & Casteels will publish the EU Energy Law & Policy Yearbook. The 2012 edition covers all recent developments in EU Energy Policy in the framework of the agenda of the present commission and also expresses the viewpoints of all relevant actors in the Energy Law & Policy field.

The yearbook is based on the contributions and debates at the 7th Annual EU Energy Law & Policy Conference 2012 and covers the whole range of EU energy law & policy.

The yearbook is published in collaboration with the Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute (EUI).

`European energy policy is rolling. The engines have been completely overhauled; the Lisbon Treaty has added a turbo in 2009; Fukushima has led to a thorough stress test in 2010, the internal market package has entered into force in 2011, and smart technology is spreading all over the sophisticated machine. 2012 may be considered as the year of the take off.'
-Helmut Schmitt von Sydow, Professor, University of Lausanne and European College of Parma; Former Director and Chief Legal Adviser, DG TREN, EC

Against this backdrop, the EU Energy Law & Policy Yearbook 2012 offers insights into the most recent opinions, assessments, and tendencies in EU energy law and policy making. Like previous editions, it draws upon the various contributions from the annual Claeys & Casteels conference on `EU Energy Law & Policy', which took place in 2012, in Brussels.

This unique publication incorporates policy papers and academic articles, including keynote speeches and presentations by many distinguished academics and high-level officials from European institutions and industry. Whether you are directly or indirectly involved in the energy community the EU Energy Law & Policy Yearbook 2012 will enable you to stay abreast of recent developments whilst offering you uniquely well-informed insights into expected trends and initiatives in EU energy law and policy.

Topics include: the 2050 Energy Roadmap, practical priorities of the European Commission in respect of the completion of the internal energy market, the Energy Infrastructure Package, the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, energy efficiency & renewables policies, the security of energy supply, the latest developments in competition law, and recent Commission Decisions in the area of state aid.
