The aim of this book is to improve the quality of care that patients with depression receive in a primary care setting. It draws on the experience of the authors in their own settings, particularly the developments of depression management over the last ten years at Leicester Terrace, culminating in the winning of the Lundbeck Depression Practice of the Year Award in 2002. The book is practical, acting as a hands-on manual. It is targeted at all the members of the primary care team, in particular nurses of both primary care and community mental health teams. The toolbox at the end of the book provides readers with examples of patient information sheets that they may wish to use as part of their own practice, as well as examples of good practice they may consider trying out in their own context.
