Waterstones Says

Following a married doctor and poet who falls in love with a political activist’s wife in revolutionary Russia, Pasternak’s heartbreaking epic remains one of the greatest literary love stories.

TRANSLATED BY MAX HAYWARD AND MANYA HARARI

Banned in the Soviet Union until 1988, Doctor Zhivago is the epic story of the life and loves of a poet-physician during the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. Taking his family from Moscow to shelter in the Ural Mountains, Yuri Zhivago finds himself embroiled in a battle between the Whites and the Reds, and in love with the beautiful nurse Lara.

“Great love story”

Brilliant book although goes into a lot of detail in places and all the characters can be confusing. It helped that I'd watched the film and was able to relate to it. Would recommend.
