Food consumption levels and patterns obtained from household surveys are presented in this publication. It makes a clear distinction between the three types of food consumption information available: quantities consumed, consumption expenditure and nutritive value of food consumed. Information relating to nutritive value is given prominence, and certain useful indicators, such as percentage contribution of each food group to total food expenditure and total calorie consumption, are also provided in the relevant tables. This issues of the publication includes data not only from recent surveys but also from some undertaken as far back as the 1970s, in order to provide some perspective of the changes over time.
