This was the first book which put the reader into the pilots' seats of 37 classic World War Two aircraft. It offers historical photographs of the interiors of dozens of British, American, German, Russian and Japanese planes, offering a "pilot's perspective" of each plane. The featured aircraft and cockpit profiles include: Supermarine Spitfire; Bristol Blenheim; Bristol Beaufighter; Hawker Typhoon; de Havilland Mosquito; Avro Lancaster; Messerschmitt Me410; Me163; Lockheed P38 Lightning; Grumman Wildcat; Boeing B17 Flying Fortress; Gloster Gladiator; Hawker Hurricane; Mitsubishi Zero; Yak-3; and, ME 262. Author Donald Nijboer is also the author of 2005's bestselling, "Graphic War". Each cockpit profile is written by a veteran pilot or aviation historian. The foreword is written by former RAF Air Vice-Marshall, Ron Dick.

MEDIA REVIEWS
A great title suited to the modeler but with enough information to appease the ardent enthusiast. It would even be a good coffee table type and to my eyes is presented a bit that way. Having said that I do not believe it detracts from it in any way. Recommended.-- (04/14/2010)
[reviewed with Gunner] A plethora of wonderful colour images both original and modern ... of such high quality that they yield some excellent information ... The large format wartime colour photos are simply fantastic. Highly recommended for aircraft fanatics and modellers too.-- (07/01/2007)
[Globe and Mail 2006 Holiday Gift Book selection]--Globe and Mail (12/09/2006)
The writer [Donald Nijboer] and photographer Dan Patterson have triumphed in recording the "offices" of 37 front-line aircraft of World War II.--Air Pictorial
The cockpit photographs are superb ... you can not only read every tiny placard, but see where a mechanic's screwdriver slipped while tightening up an access panel.--Pilot
As you thumb through this book, you'll swear you can smell oil and av-gas.--Air and Space Smithsonian
