The first of Images new "NeoArchitecture" series, "CJ Lim/Studio 8" explores the avant-garde world of CJ Lim. Fiercely British, but ever mindful of his Asian roots, CJ Lim's architecture explores the fusion of Eastern values and Western popular cultures, resulting in an eccentric and fun approach. CJ's sharp observations of life and all its tales have led him to capture the subtle nuances of space making. His unique architectural oeuvre addresses our consumer reality and daily participation in capitalism, with a range of pop-culture buildings and products, from the incorporation of insect cuisine with gardening culture through to the deconstruction of Hollywood blockbusters. Having initially focused on projects in the UK, Studio 8 architects have become increasingly international their outlook, with a portfolio covering Asia, North America and Western Europe. It is fitting that, as the twenty-first century dawns, an architectural practice also emerges that is not ashamed of the times, sensibility and contexts within which it practises.
