This is the fourth collection of short stories from the author. "Ceolta" is the new short-story collection by Daithi O Muiri, published by Clo Iar-Chonnachta. "Ceolta", meaning musics, is a collection based on and inspired by music. The stories are written in the author's trademark surrealist style, and move from a local cafe playing the music of John Coltrane, to a mother and daughter in India playing traditional tunes on a tin whistle, to a rich man obsessed with the Mogwai song 'ex-cowboy'. O Muiri says: I have always been interested in music - rock, jazz, classical, all types. When I moved to Connemara in 1990, I lost interest in listening to recorded music as there was such a high standard of live music readily available locally, particularly traditional music and sean-nos singing, as well as a variety of musicians that used to play in the Cruiscin Lan in An Spideal. It was the night-time show An Taobh Tuathail on Raidio na Gaeltachta that reignited my interest in recorded music, and it was on that show that I first heard many of the bands that feature in the book, including Mogwai and Kid606.
