This publication describes traditional knowledge related to human and veterinary medicinal uses of plants by Bedouins in the Syrian desert steppe. The information has been compiled from data collected directly from Bedouin pastoralists and from interviews with the traditional doctor, Al-Khatib. The book aims to establish a bridge between local habits, beliefs and know-how, and a scientific approach to the management and use of natural resources of the Syrian steppe. A total of 16 plants and one therapeutic animal are included, each with a short description.
