The ASQ Manager is a computer database program designed to help centers and agencies use the ASQ more efficiently and effectively. The database provides a variety of services for professionals: It stores records, scores questionnaires, indicates when children need screening and which questionnaires they need, creates center-wide reports, and generates parent letters. The database creates a file for each individual child, including contact information, demographic information, ASQ screening results, and notes. Users can enter answers to individual questions on the ASQ into a child's record and the program will score each answer and automatically tabulate the total scores. The scoring program automatically identifies areas in which the child needs further assessment and includes a follow-up section where subsequent actions can be recorded. After the questionnaire information is entered, the program formats it into a printable document that can be shared with parents and generates a letter to the parents explaining the results. The report section of the program allows users to print a report of all children in the center and their most recent ASQ information, reports on which children need to be screened on a month by month basis, reports on which children need follow-up assessment, and a phone list for all children in the center. These reports can also be run on specific groups that the user has established. The database program includes two levels of users: administrator and user. Users can enter children's information and screening results and print center-wide reports. Administrators have the ability to perform user functions, as well as add new users, change center contact information, archive children's records, delete children from the system, and print administration reports. The database is accompanied by two informational components, a user's guide and Six Steps to Screening Success: Establishing a Developmental Screening Plan Using the Ages & Stages Questionnaires[registered] (ASQ). All three components will be contained on one CD-ROM. The user's guide explains in detail how to set up the database at a center and how to use the program's features. Six Steps is a brief guidebook on developmental screening that will be useful for early childhood programs. This brief, easy-to-use guide includes information on the importance of screening children, establishing a screening program, and sharing results with parents. It offers a simple tool for programs to determine their readiness for providing developmental screening and to chart their progress toward screening successfully.
