It is now universally accepted that the development of audio-visual creativity in Europe, in both the cinema and television sectors, requires the strengthening of co-operation between professionals In the various European countries. This book is aimed at answering to the questions of those who, because of their profession or personal interest, are interested in schemes set up by the European countries and institutions with a view to fostering the development of the production and distribution of audio-visual works. This study was commissioned by the Steering Committee on the Mass Media, the intergovernmental body within the Council of Europe responsible for working out harmonised solutions, at the European level, in the area of media law and policy.
