A German Account of the Italian Campaign 1859 (Paperback)de Krijger (creator)

This title forms the first in a series of 19th-century reprints and translations that deal with campaigns other than 1866. This pamphlet reprints an article that originally appeared in the "United Services Magazine" of 1859. The unknown author, one may imagine he was most likely an Austrian officer, published his account in the "Augsburger Zeitung" shortly after the war, the English translation appearing soon afterwards. The writer provides a succinct resume of the strategy employed by the opposing forces at the onset of the campaign, and then details the ensuing actions and battles, including Montebello, Palestro, Magenta, Melegnano, and of course, Solverino.
