The most significant children's film festival worldwide is celebrating its jubilee with this book. Barbara Felsmann and Renate Zylla portray the many facets of the history and development of the Kinderfilmfest section of the Berlin International Film Festival and discuss the changes, which have taken place over the last 25 years within the international children's film industry. Fifty films strongly characterizing the "Kinderfilmfest" are described in detail. For example, "Buster's World" by Danish director, Bille August, the Polish film "Crows" by Dorota Kedzierzawska and "The Colour of Paradise" by Majid Majidi, from Iran. More than 500 films, which have appeared at the Kinderfilmfest throughout the last 25 years, are listed in an index. It also captures some of the unforgettable moments - the visiting Sophia Loren conversing with excited "Children's Jury" members, Klaus Maria Brandauer's spontaneous appearance in front of 1000 children in the Urania, or the opening ceremony at the Zoo Palast, with Chinese actress Gong Li.
