Overall 13 Minutes is an unmissable read for lovers of gritty, thrilling YA fiction. Good characters, good plot, good pace GOOD BOOK! Do check it out. This dark psychological thriller delves into a world where popularity and appearances are as important as life or death. The characters are realistically flawed, from beautiful, selfish Tasha to creative, insecure Becca. The tale twists through police reports, diary entries, psychologist evaluations and accounts from both protagonists, allowing readers brief glimpses of the truth before the exciting finale. Highly recommended. The book's evocation of the dark world of secondary school, with all its petty betrayals, casual cruelties and toxic friendships, is painfully spot on there is no holding back from the full gamut of sex, drugs and rock and roll. It is a dark and nasty tale of jealously and manipulation...the characters are intriguingly flawed, the narrative tension bow-twangingly tight and there's an absolute belter of a twist an intricately plotted, fast-paced crime story...Mean Girls meets Donna Tartt's The Secret History for the Instagram age 13 Minutes is a treat to read from start to finish and, without doubt, is a Young Adult novel that should be read and enjoyed by anyone, of all ages. An early contender for a place on my list of 2016's top books. 13 Minutes is being pencilled in for my top five books of 2016 - why let the youngsters have all the best tales? a fascinating exploration into what can happen when friendships turn toxic and a startlingly insightful look into the inscrutable world of teenagers with a dark supernatural twist. It is a grim reminder that anyone who says school days are the best of your life has probably forgotten what they were like. 13 Minutes is a darker, smarter Heathers, for the Twitter generation. sophisticated and twisty enough to please adults of all ages Perspective is everything in this clever tale.
