The Non-Fiction You Need to Read in 2023: July - December

Posted on 10th May 2023 by Mark Skinner

Whether you’re crazy for cookery, mad for memoir or go hysterical over history, the selection of great non-fiction writing heading down the track between July and December is truly eye watering. Huge names from the world of entertainment such as Barbra Streisand, Patrick Stewart, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Peter Kay all unveil their revelatory autobiographies, whilst Walter Isaacson profiles Elon Musk, Adam Sissman spills the beans on John le Carre and Dame Judi Dench pays tribute to the Bard.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Jamie Oliver cooks up a storm Mediterranean-style, Jane Dunn delivers some showstopping bakes and Sabrina Ghayour serves up more Middle East-infused dishes. Mary Beard, Tom Holland and Natalie Haynes bring the ancient world to life, whilst Michael Palin and James Holland revisit the World Wars, and Theresa May and Naomi Klein unleash passionate polemics about the current political moment. And after all that there is still time to ponder the wonder of space with Tim Peake, celebrate canine companionship with Noel Fitzpatrick and gad about New Zealand with the Outlander boys. So with all that on offer, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive in…
