Trudi Canavan

Trudi Canavan is a bestselling Australian author of fantasy novels.

Canavan studied art at the Melbourne College of Decoration and subsequently worked as graphic designer, before joining Science Fiction and Fantasy magazine Aurealis as their art and cover editor.

Her debut novel, The Magician's Apprentice, was published in 2001, opening The Black Magician trilogy which received wide critical and popular acclaim. In 2009, Canavan won the Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Novel for The Magician's Apprentice. Canavan has published two more trilogies, Age of the Five (2005-2006) and The Traitor Spy (2010-2012). In 2014, Thief’s Magic opened the Millenium’s Rule series, the fourth instalment of which – Maker’s Curse – was published in 2020.
