Steve Small’s three-decade career in animation has covered everything from designing and directing short films and TV series to working on Disney features. In the world of picture books, Small’s much-adored artwork first reached a wide audience when he illustrated Smriti Halls’ bestselling I’m Sticking with You (2020) and I’m Sticking with You Too (2021).
Small’s own debut picture book The Duck Who Didn't Like Water – an adorable tale about how friendships can flourish even when you don’t like the same things – came out in 2021 and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2022. It was followed by Wellington’s Big Day Out (2022).
