Simon Kernick biography and information

  • Simon Kernick's first published novel was The Business of Dying, the 2002 crime thriller starring cynical London detective sergeant Dennis Milne.

  • Whilst he was a student his jobs included fruit-picker and Christmas-tree uprooter.
  • After graduating Kernick joined MMT Computing in London in early 1992, where a relative was the Chairman and Managing Director. He left the company after four years in the hope of trying to secure a publishing deal. 
  • Simon researches his book through numerous contacts in the police and security services including Special Branch, the Anti-Terrorist branch and the Serious and Organised Crime Agency.

TV, film and publishing came together last night at this year's Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards, otherwise known as the CWA Daggers.
