Shannon A. Chakraborty is an award-winning American writer of historical fantasy and speculative fiction.
Chakraborty grew up in New Jersey as a daughter of Catholic parents but converted to Islam in her teens. Her debut novel, The City of Brass, was published in 2017 and opened the opulent, Middle Eastern fantasy trilogy revolving around the magical city of Daevabad. The City of Brass was enthusiastically received by both critics and the reading public and short-listed for several awards, including the World Fantasy Award and John W. Campbell Fantasy Award. The sequel, The Kingdom of Copper, followed two years later, enjoying an equally successful reception. In 2020, the much anticipated The Empire of Gold brought the Daevabad Trilogy to a magnificent conclusion.
From the author of the bestselling Daevabad trilogy comes the rip-roaring first instalment of a fantastical series centred on a notorious female pirate and the magical adventure that just might prove her undoing.
