Ross Montgomery

Born in Berkshire and educated at a London boarding school, Montgomery discovered his love of reading and writing during a childhood hospital stay. He wrote his first published book, Alex, the Dog and the Unopenable Door, whilst working as a teacher and it was later shortlisted for the 2013 Costa Children’s Book Award. Montgomery has gone on to pen a mix of novels and picture books, including two former Waterstones Children’s Books of the Month in The Midnight Guardians and I Am Rebel which was crowned Waterstones Children's Book of the Year 2024 as well as Space Tortoise (illustrated by David Litchfield) and The Thing at 52 (illustrated by Richard Johnson).
