Richelle Mead
Born in Michigan, Richelle Mead became an avid fan of lore and fantasy at an early age, when her father introduced her to Greek Myths. After obtaining a Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Michigan, a Master of Comparative Religion from Western Michigan University and a Master of Teaching from the University of Washington, Mead moved to Seattle where she worked as a teacher until the success of her first novel, Succubus Blues (2007) – the first in her Georgina Kincaid urban fantasy series – enabled her to focus on writing full-time.
2007 also saw the arrival of Vampire Academy – the first novel in Mead’s bestselling eponymous 6-book series that is set at St. Vladimir's Academy, a special hidden school where for vampiric youth are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens trained to protect them. The series was followed by Bloodlines, another six books set in the same universe as the Vampire Academy, after which Mead went on to publish a bestselling The Glittering Court trilogy (2016-2018).
