Michael Dobbs biography and information
Famous for being the Chief Of Staff and Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party, as well as an aide to Margaret Thatcher and John Major, Michael Dobbs has also carved out a career for himself as a successful novelist of political fiction. His Francis Urquhart novels, beginning with House of Cards, were successfully adapted for television by the BBC and more recently into an American series starring Kevin Spacey.
He worked at Saatchi & Saatchi in a number of roles, most notably the Deputy Chairman of the agency from 1988 to 1991 and as a columnist for the Mail on Sunday. He's written a series of novels revolving around the life and career of Winston Churchill, and has also acted as a judge for the Whitbread Book Awards.
He now writes part-time and spends his time between London and Wiltshire.
