Born in Louisiana and now resident in New York, Lewis worked as a youth services librarian for a number of years and published her debut YA novel The Half-Class – the first instalment in the Class Chronicles series – in 2021. Critical acclaim followed her intoxicating futuristic heist thriller Thieves’ Gambit (2023), which won the Older Readers category of the 2024 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, and focused on Rosalyn Quest’s attempts to win a deadly contest in order to rescue her kidnapped mother. The sequel, Heist Royale, was published the following year.
