One of only 100 forensic anthropologists ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and leading light in crime fiction, American novelist Kathy Reichs came to public attention when her first novel, Déjà Dead, became a New York Times bestseller. The book became the first in a popular series following fictional forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan – the character also makes an appearance in Jasper Fforde's 2007 novel First Among Sequels. The novels formed the inspiration for the successful Fox TV series Bones which Reichs was a producer on.
More recently Kathy Reichs has collaborated with her son Brendan on the Virals series, which is a spin-off from her original novels focusing on Temperance Brennan’s great-neice.
Returning to her addictively readable Temperance Brennan series, Kathy Reichs delivers a masterclass in meticulous plotting and intriguing criminal intent. With Brennan facing her own demons as she recovers from neurosurgery, her judgement is called into question as she probes a particularly knotty cold case. As always, Reichs’ insights into the up-to-the-minute techniques of forensic science complement a riveting mystery that is never less than engrossing.
