Justin Cartwright
Born in South Africa and educated in America and Oxford, author Justin Cartwright’s work reflected his experience of a peripatetic life. His first novel, Interior, was published to critical acclaim in 1988 and he followed this with fiction including Every Face I Meet, which was shortlisted for the Whitbread Novel Award and The Man Booker Prize and Leading the Cheers, which won the 1998 Whitbread Novel Award. An adept scriptwriter, Cartwright also wrote the screenplay for his novel, Look at it This Way which was televised for the BBC. His other works include the novels Half in Love, The Promise of Happiness, The Song Before it is Sung, Other People's Money and Lion Heart as well as the non-fiction books Not Yet Home, This Secret Garden and Oxford Revisited.
